Junior Golf Team Wins Second Consecutive Championship
CHARLOTTE – Ballantyne Country Club's Junior Golf Team claimed their second consecutive Charlotte Junior Interclub League Championship on August 8 with a team score of 444.
The team led second place Charlotte Country Club by 13 points. Other clubs competing in the championship, held at Ballantyne Country Club, were Carmel Country Club (461), Cedarwood Country Club (471), Myers Park Country Club (477) and Rock Hill Country Club (481).
"All of these junior golfers worked incredibly hard this spring and summer," said Randy Joyner, Director of Golf Instruction, who coached many of the players. "It's great to see the results of their hard work pay off – not to mention bringing home the trophy for a second year in a row is an incredible feeling."
Each club's team is composed of four age groups, with 16 juniors competing for each team. Established in 1959, the Charlotte Junior Interclub League is comprised of private country clubs in and around the Charlotte region. The League aims to promote increased participation in junior golf through a structured, competitive and fun atmosphere.
